American Apparel will tell you their ad with sexy swimsuit models slipping and sliding on their rooftop solar panels is to let everyone know how eco-friendly the company is (so you can feel real good about buying from them).
Someone more cynical might suggest that it is a clever way to get you to buy their swim suits under the guise of a public service announcement of sorts.
Someone more playful would surely say that it’s all in fun – keeps their young market engaged and interested.
After all, sexy playful girls in very little clothing do sell swimsuits. I mean, solar panels. I mean keep people paying attention.
For my part, I say that it proves that solar power generation is now mainstream.
So why did I post the American Apparel ad on my blog? I guess it is just nice to post something more interesting than solar panels soaking up the sun, for a change.
